Who We Are
High Desert Responder Gear is a husband-and-wife-owned business based in the Four Corners and operated by Mike and Trisha. Mike spent 10 years in the military and 12 years in law enforcement, which means a good portion of his adult life has been spent working long hours, missing holidays, dealing with terrible weather, surviving questionable gas station food, and learning very quickly which pieces of gear are worth buying and which ones belong forgotten in the bottom of a locker.
Trisha is a big part of what keeps HDRG moving in the right direction. She brings another perspective to the business, helps keep things organized, and occasionally reminds Mike that just because something looks cool does not automatically mean it needs to end up on the website. So far, that arrangement seems to be working.
Why We Started HDRG
There are already plenty of websites selling tactical gear, uniforms, medical equipment, and responder products. Some are great. Others seem to have searched the word “TACTICAL,” made everything black, added an American flag, and called it a business.
HDRG started because we wanted to build the kind of company we would actually buy from. Good products, fair prices, dependable suppliers, and customer service from people who understand who they are selling to. We are not interested in loading thousands of random products onto the website just to make the catalog look impressive. If we would not use it, wear it, carry it, or recommend it to somebody we know, there is a pretty good chance it does not belong here.
Built in the Four Corners
The Four Corners is home, and that matters to us. Northwest New Mexico, southwest Colorado, northeast Arizona, and southeast Utah are full of law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, corrections officers, park personnel, military members, veterans, and other responders doing the job every day.
A lot of those people work in small towns and rural areas where specialty gear stores are few and far between. If you are working in Farmington, Durango, Cortez, Shiprock, Aztec, Bloomfield, or somewhere in the middle of nowhere where your radio only works when held at exactly the right angle, you are the kind of customer HDRG was built for.
We want to become a company people around here recognize because someone they trust said, “Yeah, I ordered from them. They took care of me.” That means more to us than seeing our name plastered across the same Facebook ad seventeen times.
What We Carry
HDRG focuses on law enforcement, fire, EMS, public safety, military, veterans, park personnel, and the broader responder community. That includes duty gear, apparel, uniforms, scrubs, bags, patches, medical equipment, responder accessories, and specialty products that actually make sense for the people we serve.
Our catalog is growing slowly, but it is growing deliberately. We do not need 47 versions of the same flashlight just so the website looks bigger. We would rather carry a smaller selection of good products, work with suppliers we trust, and make it easier for customers to find something worth buying without scrolling through twelve pages of nearly identical gear.
Customer Service Should Be Simple
HDRG is a small business, and we think that is an advantage. If something goes wrong, contact us. If we made a mistake, we will fix it. If you have a question and we know the answer, we will tell you. If we do not know, we will find out.
You should not have to fight through six automated menus, explain your problem four times, and eventually get transferred to the Department of Nobody Knows in India or somewhere in Shitistan. Treat people right, answer the question, and fix the problem. Customer service really does not need to be more complicated than that.
Where We Are Going
HDRG is still new, and we are building it deliberately. We want to continue bringing in strong suppliers, expand our law enforcement, fire, EMS, and medical selections, develop more HDRG branded gear and patches, and become a trusted source for responders throughout the Four Corners.
We are not trying to build the biggest gear company in the country. We are trying to build a damn good one.
Have a question, a problem with an order, or something you think HDRG should carry? Send us a message. We actually read them.
